Julie Buckler, Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures, received a B.A. in Russian Studies from Yale University
in 1980 and a Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures, Harvard University
in 1996. Her interests are 18th- and 19th-century Russian literature and
culture, urban legends and oral narrative, cultural mythologies, gender
studies and performing arts. Recently published is her book The Literary Lorgnette: Attending Opera in Imperial Russia (Stanford University Press, 2000) and Mapping St. Petersburg: Imperial Text and Cityshape (Princeton UP, 2005). Professor Buckler teaches courses on Tolstoy, Russian drama, Women as Readers and Writers in Russia, Culture of St. Petersburg. |
